The Pressure's Off
Listened to this sermon this morning. Evangelicals are known for "piety pressure"- trying to do the right things (reading the Bible, prayer, worship) but for all the wrong reasons. This piety can be forced through external (or internal) pressure. Forced prayers because we must. Making prayers long and ornate because we want to have an intimate relationship with a holy God.
But there is another option: prayer under grace. Praying to God because He is our Father. He loves me and is delighted in me even when I don't pray. Listen to this sermon when you get a chance. It is freeing and brings Godly joy.
