Meli (6) and her two older sisters live with their mother in an area of Durres, #Albania that is below sea-level. The area floods regularly & smells of sewage, and the water is not safe to drink. There are few employment opportunities here, access to education is difficult, and families led by single parents are particularly #vulnerable. The father was addicted to gambling and because of it, lost his job, became aggressive towards his family, and used household funds to pay their debts. The situation finally ended in #divorce, leaving her mother and the three girls living in desperate #poverty, which is when Mission Without Borders became aware of their situation. They are now 1 of over 90 families in this area being supported through MWB’s Family #Sponsorship program. #Families are given material & emotional #support, and are being helped on their journey towards #selfsufficiency. We are on a #mission to see this families healed by being close to them, listening to and counselling them, and leading them towards a different life - one of hope and promise!
