Making Mary weep..

In March I was finally able to find and visit the Museum of the Romanian Peasant.  The museum was fascinating with textiles, folk costumes,icons and other artistic artifacts of peasant life in pre-communist Romania.  Even a reconstructed peasant cabin and wooden chapel!


I purchased a 2010 wall calendar there which was filled with Romanian traditional sayings about cleaning and laundry (it was co-sponsored by Proctor and Gamble-go figure).
The month of May has a picture of a clothesline of laundry hanging outside in a Romanian garden.The Romanian saying for this month is

“In the dirty house, Virgin Mary comes in and weeps.”

OK I need to clean my apartment now..:)
